The Image of male gender roles

What do you first picture when someone says "nurse", how would you end this sentence "stay at home ...". Both of these jobs have been typecast though the use of visual media. If we were to type in nurse into "Google" we see several pictures of women come up.
After taking some crude photos we see all the pictures of females. Yet no males, Now what happens if we type "stay at home" to symbolize stay at home mum and dads.

We see a similar trend once again , we only see picture of females taking care of the children, This is where i think the term "feminists" has roughly over turned the ideals of humanity. females are starting to be seen as doctors and workers while males still have to be stuck to the same gender roles that the visual media has place. Now many of you may think "oh but if we were to type the word "doctor" into Google we would see many pictures of males. This is where you are wrong.

As we can see we have a majority of male doctors, But we are still able to see some females in there. This objectifies males to a point where males aren't "Men" if they are a stay at home dad or a male nurse. This is news and visual medias use of symbolism making males think that being a stay at home dad or a male nurse is in fact un-masculine.This limits the amount one male can do and in fact effect his community making there less male nurse and less stay at home dads. The media puts these images in our minds to guide males into making them feel insecure with the life decisions that they made, This resulting in putting male into jobs that they don't want to do and placing more stress on those who fight the stereotypes and the hard workers that want to be in a job which is seen as feminine. I believe that if we would want gender equity we must have a equal understanding of how both males and females are objectified and ex-spell the idea of feminist and join together to form equal rights and i believe the quote below fully expresses my idea and conveys the message I am am trying to show.

The image of newscasters

Though-out the decades, Many women have been objectified but due to the movement of feminism and the over turn of the male superiority has changed how males are viewed in news media, We start to see a change of attractive females hosting the news to attractive males being objectified by women.

Evidence: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/07/22/tv-news-hotties-which-ny_n_242890.html?slidenumber=12

In fact we not only see this in new media we also start to see this in all visual media. We see males being objectified by their looks and because of this are taken less seriously by women. This re-enforces the idea of of the "Female Gaze". We see this take tolls on how males act in all types of media, we see males trying to convey serious issues in the news and in TV shows which have deeper meanings but we only see them typecast to fit the female benefit. This is where I believe males are placed into the role of being objectified and not being taken seriously enough. We can all see this by the links below where males are being rated on how they look instead of being judge on their ideas and their contributions, We in fact see them objectified by their looks and how they act instead of their contributions to their society. This is where i believe is the worst type of objectification in visual and news media. We see hard working males contribute their lives to make courageous acts of kindness only to be put down by the media by how they look.

the male image and the "female gaze"

 Desktop Wallpaper-s > Brands > Dolce-Gabbana (D and G) Fashion

Big arms, Toned and cut abdomens, perfectly tanned body and strong and muscular legs. Males all over the world are objectified to rapid flashing images of the perfect body. We see males every where objectified by the "female gaze". Men are always seeing ad's on how to attract women with protein shakes and the "secret" of how to get muscular. We see these images corrupt males minds with the concept of perfection making males fell in inadequate and making them feel as though they have to live up to these picture and gain the perfect body. This obviously objectifies males , making males feel as though they wont be able to amount to the things these men achieve. such as gain attention for females and other males around them. Making them feel as though they don't have a voice, that they wont be heard be cause there is always someone stronger than them and all the images that surround males these days helps re-enforce the idea.

Advertisements like these help clear the message that i'm conveying showing a "ripped" male showing us the magic formula to help us gain muscle and become similar to him. This is a clear objectification of males , brainwashing them into buying the product so they can get the attention that this male gets.

"Corrective Rape" the case of Olga Zajac and Viktor Jasinski

Around 2010 and 2011 there was a article published by the Daily mail , this article discuss a story of which where a male (Viktor Jasinski ) robbed a salon in Russia and then the owner (Olga Zajac) beat him up,tied him up and then raped him for three days straight only feeding him Viagra for those three days.

Now there is a lot of speculation saying that this article isn't true such as in the comments and all around the internet. But that's not the problem the problem is the reaction to this shocking news story. She has fan pages all over Facebook (link below) and in the comments we have people supporting her and making fun of the rape victim. But i find this disturbing that males are objectified to the point where its okay to be raped by someone as long as the victem have done something against the law and many people are saying that it's "Corrective rape", That its okay to be raped and to be forced fed Viagra as long as you've done something wrong in the first place. This is where i believe the news media has let us down they give us the idea that this Olga Zajac is a hero that she is in fact innocent of all crimes. This is another prime example of why and how men are objectified and we can see this by switching the roles of these characters. If we saw this and the genders were switched around where a female robbed a salon and a male bet her up, tied her down and raped her. we would be calling for this mans head. Instead this woman is being praised and is seen as hero. while the victim of the rape is being made fun of again and again.I believe this is a prime insight into how males are treated. We can see this through this news articles use of language where they compare this mans horrible ordeal to the movie "pulp fiction" where the two men are in a similar case. If this was in a different case like i said before the news article would be about how a brave women survived the tragic ordeal and would show the male as a monster. But we don't see this, we see through the use of language that this women is seen as a hero and this man as a laughing stock that can be compared to a movie which had a similar case.

Sharron Osborn and counter sexism.

This video is a prime example of how men in visual media are treated, This clip shows people laughing about this a male being involuntarily castrated by his wife Catherine Kieu. I believe this objectifies men to a point where we are just seen as laughing stocks. This furthers my point that men in news and visual media are objectified to the point where being violently castrated is made fun of, But if we were to look at it from the opposite point of view where a women was violently attack and a finger or toe was chopped off and then some males were sitting around a table and were laughing about it on national TV, we would be calling for those men to face up and take some sort of punishment for their legal crime. This is where i think we need to have a double standard either men are allowed to laugh at something similar cases of this nature or females shouldn't be able to laugh at this or any other case similar to this on national television. But i do believe we would choose to have the greater of the two , where no-one is made fun of and we give equal punishments for people that do poke fun of cases similar to this on national television or all types of media and I believe this would be A lot better than having someone like Sharon Osborn talking about how males being castrated is a topic to be laughed at. This represents my gender terribly showing through the use of dialogue that people can make fun of a male being mutilated and i also believe the sooner we stop this the easier it will be able to control.
