This video is a prime example of how men in visual media are treated, This clip shows people laughing about this a male being involuntarily castrated by his wife Catherine Kieu. I believe this objectifies men to a point where we are just seen as laughing stocks. This furthers my point that men in news and visual media are objectified to the point where being violently castrated is made fun of, But if we were to look at it from the opposite point of view where a women was violently attack and a finger or toe was chopped off and then some males were sitting around a table and were laughing about it on national TV, we would be calling for those men to face up and take some sort of punishment for their legal crime. This is where i think we need to have a double standard either men are allowed to laugh at something similar cases of this nature or females shouldn't be able to laugh at this or any other case similar to this on national television. But i do believe we would choose to have the greater of the two , where no-one is made fun of and we give equal punishments for people that do poke fun of cases similar to this on national television or all types of media and I believe this would be A lot better than having someone like Sharon Osborn talking about how males being castrated is a topic to be laughed at. This represents my gender terribly showing through the use of dialogue that people can make fun of a male being mutilated and i also believe the sooner we stop this the easier it will be able to control.
